ホワイトマルベリー２年目・・・まもなく終わり

ホワイトマルベリーの2シーズン目が終わろうとしています。

葉っぱは黄色く色づき、ぽろり、ぽろりと落ちていきます。



調べてみても、あまり情報の見つけられないホワイトマルベリー、葉は茂ったものの、あまり変化がなかったことから、木の成長というものの時間の長さを、改めて実感させられました．．．

また、気の成熟（大人）度は、長さではなく、太さであることを改めて実感。
確かに歳を重ねた年輪は太さですから．．．そういう意味でも、まだまだ幼い木だと感じています。

今年ちょっとは太くはなりましたが．．．

このシーズン（４月～の半年？）で実感したこととして、
１．樹勢は、市販書に書かれている通常の桑（マルベリー）程には強くないような．．．

昨年は、8号の鉢が詰まったことが、あまり成長しなかった理由かな、とも思ったのですが、9号の鉢で今のところ余裕がありそう．．．

春先に枝が伸び、その後、成長が止まり、結局そのまま．．．この冬は鉢のサイズアップは見送り予定です。

ただし、最初に書いているように、木が若いことが理由かもしれません。今後の観察で間違っておりましたら訂正します．．．

２．実は改めて思い返しますと、結構甘かったです。

最近、無花果（いちじく）を食べる機会がありました（確か無花果も桑科）。

．．．たまたま食べた実だけなのかも知れませんが、舌の記憶にあるホワイトマルベリーの実の方が甘いと感じました。いい加減な記憶ではありますが．．．

さて、街にも、秋の落ち葉が溢れていますが、改めて、ホワイトマルベリーの黄色く染まった葉っぱに触れてみると、本当にぽろりと取れます。

それだけのことでも、ちょっとこの感覚に感動？してしまいます．．．ちょっと大げさですが

眠り（冬眠）につくにあたり、エネルギーを蓄えて、春の準備を整えて、もう葉からのエネルギーはいらないということで、葉は落ちると読んだ覚えがあります。

そのように、早くも準備を全て済ませ、休む様子を見て、ちょっと羨ましいと思ってしまいます．．．

眠っている間も、水やりをする必要はありますが．．．

とりあえず、今シーズンも、お休みなさいといった感じです．．．
